IT GETS INDIE 2012
23 June 2012
Great American Music Hall, SF
The second annual It Gets Indie is a concert benefiting The Trevor Project and It Gets Better. The concert will bring together some great indie bands to help end suicides among LGBT teens. For the concert I have rented out one of SF's prominent rock venues, the Great American Music Hall.
The money raised through WePay will go directly to funding the production of the concert. From funding the venue to paying for sound equipment and engineers, every dollar you give will make It Gets Indie possible.
Last year's It Gets Indie concert raised $20,000 for these two great organizations.
It Gets Better:
In September 2010, in response to the recent suicides, the “It Gets Better Project” was founded. It is a YouTube channel where adults of all sexual orientations post videos for LGBTQ teens letting them know that life really does get better, and that it is worth living to experience it. At this point there are about 3,000 videos and growing.
The Trevor Project:
The Trevor Project was founded in 1998, and is a “suicide helpline” for suicidal LGBTQ youth. It also has online chat rooms and Q & A’s. The Trevor Project has also recently become affiliated with It Gets Better, for they are both oriented towards suicidal LGBTQ youth.
