The Rolling Jubilee is a Strike Debt campaign to raise money to buy personal debt, for pennies on the dollar, and then abolish it in an act of mutual aid. Think of it as a bailout for the 99% by the 99%. Since the government, bought and paid for by the 1%, refuses to do this, we will have to do it ourselves!
All contributions go to The Rolling Jubilee Fund, a non-profit 501(c) (4) tax exempt organization with the exclusive mission of buying and abolishing debt. 100% of the money raised will go to buying and abolishing debt (a process that includes some minor associated costs such as paperwork filing fees, certified letters, record keeping, and so on). Contributions are not tax deductible and there will be transparent accounting on the Rolling Jubilee website.
The Rolling Jubilee (rollingjubilee.org) is a project of Strike Debt (strikedebt.org), which emerged from a series of Occupy Wall Street/Occupy Theory open assemblies that began in May 2012 in NYC. We are spreading the word that debt is a global system of domination and exploitation of the 99% by the 1%. Strike Debt links diverse individuals and communities to resist the debt system. Initiatives include publishing The Debt Resistors’ Operations Manual, hosting teach-ins and debt assemblies, supporting the Occupy Student Debt Campaign‘s pledge of student debt refusal, and creative direct actions across the country.
