The Occupy movement plans to convene on the steps of Congress when the House of Representatives meet for the first time in 2012 on January 17....and Occupy San Diego plans to be there as well!
For me, This action is to stand in solidarity with all OCCUPY movements nationwide to bring attention to the out-of-touch body of government that is suppose to represent the PEOPLE! [Google NDAA, SOPA, and the recent house rejection of the payroll tax cut deal.]
If we can all march to Congress together, the impact it could have is profound - think million man march. If in anyway i can take part of this action and assist, i will.
We plan to occupy the Greyhound and take it eastward from San Diego all the way to Washington D.C!
A working group has been effectively raising money to fund the trip for the ground troops that have been occupying San Diego 24/7 for the past 2 1/2. (see link: https://www.wepay.com/donations/67105)
I, Johnny Nguyen, am short on money as well, but would love to somehow raise money so that I can go with these awesome people and I plan to do it by offering my art.
******Please keep in mind that the money raise will go towards the roundtrip Greyhound ticket ($250). The additional funds collected thereafter, will go towards the Occupy San Diego Group expenses, including food, room and board, museum tickets, coffee, etc.******
I would love to photo-document the whole trip in its entirely so that people can follow us from the west coast all the way to the eastcoast....as if they were there! I have already created a Twitter keep the community up-to-date with us as well (twitter: road2congress). If people are interested in sponsoring me, you will receive a photo. The photos are related to Occupy San Diego.
Since the inauguration on October 7, 2011 I've been consistently out there coming out from North County down to San Diego to photograph the movement. I am actively curating/managing this photo blog to keep viewers in tune with us: http://www.occupysdphotography.tumblr.com
My photos have a very photo journalistic style to them, capturing things in their true essence...the way it happened. Hopefully you guys can see that in them.
Anyways, the prints you'd receive would be quality archival pigment prints that I've edited, color corrected, etc. I could sell them in variety of types and sizes ranging from standard 4" x 6" prints to a full scale, ready to frame print with 11" x 14" matted window cut. It all depends on the amount contributed!
Four (4) more classes and I'll have a fine art certificate and an AA in Photography. So you'll have to trust me that these would be considered fine art and would be radical!
Here are some of the photos you can choose from: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnnnyn/sets/72157628061084631/
I've come up with this standard price sheet for now, but test my creativity if you'd like!
- your choice of one (1) 4" x 6" archival pigment print $5
- 4" x 6" photo can also be mounted, ready to frame on 11" x 14" board with a window bevel cut for $25
- your choice of one (1) 8" x 10" archival pigment print $10 - 8" x 10" photo can also be mounted, ready to frame on 11" x 14" board with a window bevel cut for $40
- A set of five (5) 4" x 6" prints mounted, ready to frame on 11" x 14" board with a window bevel cut for $100. [This set would look really good together in a hallway of your home or wherever. You would have a super nice artistic portfolio for only $100!]
So if you're interested in any photos, please tell me which photo you want from the link below and how you want it and I will do everything i can to personalize each package: http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnnnyn/sets/72157628061084631/
*I don't mind selling prints loosely for $5 (or $10) by themselves but please consider these photos as fine art. I don't go to Wal-mart to print these up. I dont send it off to have someone print them for me. I take FULL creative control the minute I take the photo to when I mount the photo and cut window mats. Everything is crafted by me.
And lastly...Thanks so much to everyone for even considering this! Thanks Chris, Josephine for being so great at promoting the previous charity. You've motivated me to do something as well.
Also, to everyone who donates....
Somehow please provide mailing address and let me know which photo you want specifically. If there is a comment box available, use it. If not there are many ways you can contact me.
