Money will be used towards |
Smartphone plan with Sprint wireless, unlimited data to stream with and 4g network to bring you as much coverage of #OWS as possible. The goal is to be able to livestream from events and not just be a bystander.
I tweet under the twitter name @OWS_Live and @OccupySteve and livestream currently on www.OWSNYC.tv
However, because of my lack of basic equipment (all of which can be solved with a smartphone) I am unable to tweet or livestream when I am actually Occupying! Lets work together to solve this!
This money will also be spent on things such as travel fare in order to better cover actions all around New York and the United States.
Sprint Data Plan + Phone Fees - $89/m
MTA Unlimited Metro Card for Travel - $104/m
Minimum Funds to Keep Streaming - $89/m (+ 1 time phone and activation fee)
Any Extra Funds will be used towards travel / equipment and essential needs.AND WILL BE ACCOUNTED FOR
14-24mm Nikon Camera Lens - Broken at Liberty Plaza
Personal Dell Laptop - Broken at Liberty Plaza
Upon receiving and spending funds, I will be keeping a google document spreadsheet that will tell exactly how much money I have received and exactly how much money I am spending on items so that we can all stay happy and financially transparent.

Update March 15, 2012
We've been busy!
I have been working with a great group of people to create a Citizen Journalist platform called The Daily Occupier. It's a combination of live tweets, blogs, streams and articles written by the people, for the people.
Saturday is the 6 month anniversary. Things should get interesting!
Update February 1, 2012
Today I stopped by the Student Walk Out / #WalkItOut from @SaveLegacy || Their school is being shut down by Bloomberg because of budget cuts and these children are going to be displaced from their schools and either forced to find a new school and readjust or displaced completely.
I've never seen kids so adamant about getting an education at such a young age in this country. It was inspirational. At one point the chant "The students united, will never be deated!" broke out. It's good to know that we've reached such a diverse crowd as young as that and let them know that we have each other's support.
I took a few photos and videos before my camera died, I didn't get to charge it from the other night.
Update January 31, 2012
I have been getting really emotional about the #OWS movement recently. I thought that maybe I needed a break because it has been stressing me out and aging me so much at 22 years old, but no. This is exactly what I need, this is what we need. We need this burning desire to change the world in our hearts. We need fire burning up inside of us that makes us want to take action, but it's what we do with that passion that will determine the success of the movement.
Secondly, We went on the Oakland solidarity march and I caught an undercover / plain clothes police officer assaulting a protester. Here it is:
Update January 29, 2012
Today is #SS #SolidaritySunday || I will be doing homework until 6:30 (because I am a full time student taking 21 credits at The New School. However at 7pm I'll be going on the Solidarity march with Oakland (which tends to get a bit crazy.) Looking forward to it. Bringing my camera, but won't be live streaming because I don't have equipment yet.
Update January 28, 2012
So we have been trying to be live for as many events as we possibly can, mostly GA, Spokes, meetings and events. We are live from spokes on www.owsnyc.tv every monday and wendesday and we are live from GA as much as possible.
I, however, have not been streaming. I don't have a laptop and I dont have a phone that is even capable of connecting to the internet. I'm a little disturbed at the amount of work that we put in compared to some streams (while not attaching our personal names to them) and not getting any donation. TheOther99 for instance has 37,000 in donations. TimCast.TV has recieved over 10,000 in donations on various donation sites and some that are not transparent nor viewable
However, Occupello has 300 and www.owsnyc.tv has 1,500.
I guess what I'm saying is that people should be spreading the wealth to ALL of your local livestream channels (especially those INSIDE of the movement) if you want the movement to be covered. The channels that stream GA and Spokes and events have been going downhill because no one funds them!
Update January 18, 2012
So we went to #OccupyCongress to cover it for almost 40+ hours straight this weekend. Unfortunately I forgot my camera batter, but brought all the rest of the equipment so I stuck with livestream instead of my camera. Due to me not getting ANY money in donations, I had to return the phone that I was livestreaming with just so that I could eat dinner tonight. I think that I am instead going to stream from other peoples phones and communal laptops etc. so that I can take video when I'm not doing that in order to produce offline content for www.owsnyc.tv
Update January 16, 2012
Today I'm headed to #OccupyCongress with a great group of people. @TessEliza @OccuWeather and a few more. We are going to be streaming from the bus, doing Q&As and heading down there and setting up. Hopefully we'll be meeting a few people from DC and other camps who are coming out for the actions.
Tonight we'll head to a media blitz meeting that we are going to be streaming from. It'll be mostly livestreamers and cameramen I presume about how we're going to cover everything and where to be etc.
It should be good.
Update January 15, 2012
Today was a day of working on websites and getting ready for #J17. We are going to be streaming LIVE from the minute we get on the bus until we can not possibly stream anymore! I hope you join us at www.owsnyc.tv
Update January 13, 2012
I will be streaming LIVE from #NYCSC aka New York City Spokes Council tonight at 7:00pm til finish or battery runs out.
Check it out LIVE and come take part in the Spokes Council discussion on www.ustream.com/channel/occupysteve or www.owsnyc.tv
Update January 14, 2012
Unfortunately, I can not afford $2.50 to get down to the General Assembly tonight, however our team on www.owsnyc.tv is covering it. Don't have anything at all to eat tonight either. It's a sad night. Can't wait to get to DC.
