IRA Charitable Rollover Extended Through December 31st
The IRA Charitable Rollover was extended through December 31, 2013 as a provision of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.
The IRA Charitable Rollover allows individuals age 70 1/2 and older to make direct transfers totaling up to $100,000 per year to 501(c)(3) organizations, such as First Graduate, without having to count them as income for federal income tax purposes.
Who qualifies? Individuals who are age 70½ or older at the time of the contribution (you have to wait until your actual 70½th birthdate to make the transfer).
How much can I transfer? $100,000 per year.
From what accounts can I make transfers? Transfers must come from your IRA directly to First Graduate.
To what organizations can I make gifts? Tax-exempt organizations that are classified as public charities described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (“IRC”), with the exception of supporting organizations described in IRC Sec. 509(a)(3) and donor advised funds described in IRC Sec. 4966(d)(2). First Graduate’s tax ID number is 94-3381171.
Join First Graduate's Legacy Circle:
There are several ways to leave a legacy to First Graduate.
Name First Graduate in your will or estate plan as a recipient of a set percentage or dollar amount of your estate
Designate First Graduate as a beneficiary to a life insurance policy, retirement fund, or IRA
Make a bequest of real estate, a valuable work of art, or other personal property
Unrestricted gifts provide First Graduate with the maximum flexibility to allocate funds where the need is greatest. If you wish to designate a more specific purpose to your gift, please let us know, so we can ensure that we will be able to honor your wishes.
The following sample provision may be helpful to you and your attorney. “I bequeath to First Graduate, 37 Graham Street, Suite 100, San Francisco, California 94129, the sum of $ _________ [or ________percent of my estate] for its purposes.”
