What are we about?
Philly Jail Support Collective is a weekly support resource that gathers outside local prisons and jails to offer support to released inmates throughout the day and connect with visiting family members and friends. We believe that the justice system is flawed and the prison system perpetuates inhumane behavior. These socalled “correctional” facilities are based off a system of profit rather than rehabilitation. Our goal is to provide support in the form of food, cold drinks, bus tokens, hugs, smokes, etc. outside these institutions upon inmate discharge. We are hoping to make this project grow and have jail support days outside different institutions throughout the philly metro area.
Want to get involved/ help out?
We are hoping to have this project grow to multiple times a week at different locations, but at this time it is once a week on Monday afternoons. If you’d like to come, please send us an email so we can add you to our volunteer schedule. If you’d like to help out by bringing something, please let us know what you plan on bringing and what time you think you will be arriving.
-Water bottles/Gallon Water Jugs
-Packaged Snacks or Baked Goods
Anything you can think of that would be beneficial to the event, go ahead and bring!
Also if you have any literature to contribute, please bring it along. We hope to grow the literature table and provide relevant city-wide resource packets to former inmates.
If you need help with printing or making copies please email us at:%firstname.lastname@example.org"> email@example.com
